Autism Awareness – A Day At The Park

Continuing the Autism Awareness Month theme, I wanted to include a couple photos of Kayleigh Anne at the park today. Far from the stereotypical “emotionless and disinterested” child that may come to mind when so many people think of autism, she’s extremely outgoing and loves to check out the world around her.

Certainly autism has many degrees of severity, and it is true that some children are, tragically, locked away much more deeply. However, I hope to show that, at heart, so many of these kids are as full of life and hope and wonderment as anyone.

Kayleigh found the playground as exciting as any of the kids there. She particularly loves the slide.

Always a little helper, she insisted on pulling the wagon while her brother, Xavi, ran along side.
