Found Details

While I do a lot of detail photos at weddings I don’t tend to set them up like little studio shoots. Sure, I’ve done some setups, but for the most part I prefer found details; flowers, shoes, wine glasses the way they’re being used or just as you’ve set them down. This doesn’t only show the item, but also shows it in the context of the day’s story.

Sometimes these details are captured during a quiet moment, but sometimes they are found as events are unfolding all around. Case in point: these flowers were photographed during the ceremony itself. Yes, I have “staged” shots of the flowers elsewhere, but by capturing them here we have a bit of variety, the photo shows a bit more context, and it serves as a sort of “reaction shot” to the vows.
