My storytelling style is very much about both action and reaction. I build each little scene through several photos. At the end of the day, the story of the wedding day is told through a compilation of all these little scenes.
This differs significantly from most photographers who grab a single photo at a time or, in the worst case, simply shoot for a set of standard smile-for-the-camera snapshots.
These little scenes don’t always have to be big productions. Often the littlest moments are the most special. Here we see a proud father walking down the hotel hallway after seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time. As they head back toward their suite the flower girl’s reaction to seeing them together is absolutely priceless. It’s just a great moment!
By using several photos in sequence we get a far more detailed feel for the moment as it unfolded than we’d ever get from a single photo. This is how I tell stories.
